My son started with John when he was old enough to take classes and we have seen such a positive change in him!!! He is more focused and takes pride in working hard, and he just seems much more mature and confident. Highly recommended.Crystal Falconer, mother of a student

What is Taekwondo?

Head Kick © Longmont Martial Arts Academy, LLCTaekwondo (also written “Tae Kwon Do” or “Taekwon-do”) is a Korean martial art practiced by more than 70 million people worldwide.

The name is translated to mean “the way of kicking and striking”. While Taekwondo is known primarily for kicks that demonstrate power, speed, and flexibility, it offers a diverse collection of foot and hand techniques.

This art was introduced to the United States in the 1960s as an effective means of self defense. The benefits experienced by Taekwondoists include improved coordination, self confidence, and competence in stressful situations.

Quick Intro: Taekwondo Tenets

We strive to exemplify and teach the five, original tenets (principles) of a Taekwondoist: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit. These aren’t easy concepts, and that’s part of what makes them valuable.
